However,standard disk partitions and software RAID are also available during installation. Thefollowing subsections describe how to use these different partitioning methods duringinstallation. Chapter 7, “Managing Storage,” describes how to set up and maintain themafter installation.Setting Up Basic Partitions During InstallationTo use standard disk partitions, complete the following steps for each partition as demonstratedin Figure 1.12:1. Click New.2. Enter a mount point such as / or /boot.3. Select swap as the filesystem type if the partition is to be used as swap space. Selectext3 for all other <strong>Linux</strong> partitions.4. Select the allowable drives if multiple drives exist. Basic partitions cannot span overmore than one physical drive. If more than one drive is selected, the partition willbe created on one of the selected drives depending on the free disk space availableon the selected drives and the desired size of the partition.5. The partition size can be set as a fixed size, a variable size up to a specific sizedepending on the amount of free disk space, or the total amount of free disk spaceavailable on one of the allowable drives selected.
