298CHAPTER 13Network File Sharingrequested file is in the exported tree. When subtree checking is enabled, it alsomakes sure files inside directories with root-only access can only be accessed whenexported with the no_root_squash option, which is not a default option. Thisoption disables subtree checking. [no_subtree_check]. Sync write operations on request: Wait until operation is written to disk beforeresponding to client. Enabled by default because it is part of the NFS protocol and arequired option. [sync]. Force sync of write operations immediately: By default, write operations aredelayed slightly if the server might receive another related write request or if one isalready in progress. The writes are performed in one operation, which mightimprove performance. When this option is enabled, the server does not delay whenwriting to disk. This option can not be used if the async option is enabled.[no_wdelay]. Hide filesystems beneath: If a subdirectory of a directory already exported is alsoconfigured as a mount point, by default, the subdirectory is accessible withouthaving to specifically mount it. If this option is enabled, the subdirectory must bemounted separately from the parent directory. If it is not, the subdirectory willappear empty to NFS clients. [hide if checked, no_hide if unchecked]. Export only if mounted: Export a directory only if it has been successfullymounted on the NFS server. This option prevents an empty directory from beingexported should the filesystem being exported fail to mount on the NFS server. [mp]. Optional mount point: If Export Only If Mounted is selected, a mount point canbe specified if it differs from the export point. If not specified, it is assumed that themount point and export point are the same. [mountpoint]. Set explicit Filesystem ID: Override the filesystem identification for the file handleand file attributes with this number. Useful to ensure that the NFS server and itsfailover use identical NFS file handles. [fsid]The User Access tab contains the following options:. Treat remote root user as local root: Do not map requests from root to the anonymoususer and group ID. [no_root_squash]. Treat all client users as anonymous users: Map all user and group IDs to theanonymous user and group ID. [all_squash]. Local user ID for anonymous users: If Treat All Client Users As Anonymous Usersis enabled, use this user ID for the anonymous user. [anonuid]. Local group ID for anonymous users: If Treat All Client Users As AnonymousUsers is enabled, use this group ID for the anonymous user. [anongid]Click OK to add the share to the list. After clicking OK, the settings are automaticallysaved to the /etc/exports file and the daemon is automatically reloaded so the newshare is available. The old configuration file is written to /etc/exports.bak.
