Installing with PXE 53Now, you should have the following files:/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/boot.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/expert.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/general.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/param.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/rescue.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/msgs/snake.msg/tftpboot/linux-install/pxelinux.01Use the following steps to configure the files specific to the <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong> <strong>Enterprise</strong> <strong>Linux</strong>version and variant to be installed:TIPThe same PXE server can be used to offer multiple versions and variants of <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong><strong>Enterprise</strong> <strong>Linux</strong> if the files for each are located in different /tftpboot/linuxinstall//directories.1. Create the /tftpboot/linux-install// directory where is aunique identifier for the version and variant of <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong> <strong>Enterprise</strong> <strong>Linux</strong> to installvia PXE. For example, RHEL5Server could be used for <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong> <strong>Enterprise</strong> <strong>Linux</strong>Server 5.2. Copy the initrd.img and vmlinuz files from the images/pxeboot/ directory of theinstallation tree or the first installation CD into the /tftpboot/linux-install// directory.3. If performing a kickstart installation, copy the kickstart file in the /tftpboot/linux-install// directory as well with the ks.cfg filename.Use the following steps to configure the files specific to the systems connecting to thePXE server for installation:1. Create the /tftpboot/linux-install/pxelinux.cfg/ directory on the PXE server.2. The /tftpboot/linux-install/pxelinux.cfg/ directory should contain a file foreach system to be installed, where the filename is the IP address or hostname of thesystem to be installed. If the system to be installed does not have a configurationfile based on its IP address, the configuration information in the file named defaultis used. An example file for the pxelinux.cfg/ directory is in Listing 1.2. In Listing1.2, replace with the directory name created for <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong> <strong>Enterprise</strong><strong>Linux</strong> version and variant to install on the system, and replace with thenetwork installation method to use for the installation such asnfs::/.
