DINING SERVICESThe <strong>University</strong> Village Café is an all you can eat <strong>dining</strong> facility. Times are posted on thefront door of the cafeteria. Enjoy all you can eat while in the cafeteria, however, oneentree per trip through the line at a time and no foods may leave the cafeteria. 2. ConradHall is a retail food court with a variety sure to please the most discriminating tastes.Hours are posted at the entrance of the restaurant. This is a cash operation or mealequivalency. In exchange for any of the entitled meals in the Village Café, one canredeem a meal at the Hall at a specified equivalency rate. You may eat in the <strong>dining</strong> areaor take-out is available. 3. A Coffee Shop with snacks, sandwiches, and other fingerfoods is located on the 1 st Floor of the Administration Building. This is a cash operationonly.NOTE: Temporary I.D. cards cannot be used in the food court at Conrad Hall.<strong>University</strong> Village CaféThe Village Café is an all you can eat <strong>dining</strong> facility located in the heart of the campusand convenient to the dorms. The hours of operation are posted on the door. We offerthree meals daily Monday thru Friday, brunch, and dinner on the weekends. This <strong>dining</strong>facility does not permit take-out meals. Sandwich Central – Made-to-order sandwichescan be found here. Offering an assortment of premium meats and cheeses piled high on avariety of bread and rolls. Kettle Classics – Hot and hearty Au Bon Pain soups fill theself-serve soup kettles at this station. Two delicious soups are featured at each meal.Menutainment – A uniformed chef stirs up a daily special before your eyes and cooks toyour specifications and taste.Trattoria – Pizzas, hand tossed by our chefs, are covered with a variety of toppings andcheeses and available daily.The Fresh Grill - Our chef serves a grilled daily special each day.Origins – A variety of menu choices every day. Choose from any of the delicious entrees,side dishes and vegetables that make up this carefully prepared attraction.Garden Emporium – Only the freshest fruits and vegetables make up the assortment ofitems found at this station.The Double Treat Bakery – An unbelievable array of specialty cakes, pies, cookies andother baked goods made right in our own bakery.Conrad HallThis facility is a retail food court catering to a wide range of tastes and the activelifestyles of students. Open daily, hours of operation are posted on the entrance doors andall food sold is available for take-out. We invite you to enjoy:Backyard ‘Braai’– A South African word for cooking meat and vegetables over an openflame. Our chefs grill the finest ribs, chicken, beef, and pork and offer it with mouthwateringsides to finish your meal. We did not forget the fried chicken. It is available heretoo.CHECKER’S Hamburgers – We added your fast food favorite to our court. Choose froma Big Buford Burger or a spicy chicken fillet sandwich, two of the many fine sandwichesoffered. Do not forget the fries.SUB GENERATION – A quality sub shop using the finest meats, cheese, and toppingson fresh baked bread or wraps.65

Incorporated into this enjoyable <strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>community <strong>dining</strong> area are fresh packaged sandwiches, salads, and wraps using only thebest meats and cheeses. Fresh brewed coffee, Danish, muffins, bagels, and doughnuts areavailable for light breakfast fare or as an afternoon snack.<strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> Traditional Meal PlansTo offer choices and flexibility, the following plans have been designed to managestudents' very busy lifestyles.19-Meal Plan Designed for residents and commuters who want to take all their meals oncampus and want the best economy for their food dollars. This plan offers a large numberof All-You-Can-Eat meals for those who typically eat 19 full-course meals each week.Any student can purchase the 19-Meal Plan.15-Meal Plan or 15-Meal Plan PlusDesigned for students that are on campus Monday thru Friday but typically leave for theweekend or work off campus during the weekend. 10-Meal Plan or 10-Meal Plan PlusStudents residing in the Village who have a full kitchen (one-bedroom) are eligible topurchase a 10-Meal Plan. Plus Dollars Another option is to purchase Plus Dollars andhave them on account for use in all <strong>dining</strong> facilities through the I.D. card system.Purchases can be made throughout the school year at the food service office. For every$50.00 purchased, you receive an additional $5.00 credit. Purchase of Plus Dollars mustbe made in increments of $25.00 or more. If purchased in advance with a meal plan, PlusDollars are discounted as much as 60% (depending on the plan purchased). Plus dollarsdo not carry over to the next semester or academic year. Therefore, you must use them orlose them. Individual Meal Rates Students on the Meal Plan may bring a guest to anymeal, breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Village Café at the current "All You Can Eat"rates. Please contact <strong>dining</strong> <strong>services</strong> for the current rates.Commuter Student Meal PlansBlock Meal Plans may be purchased with or without Plus dollars and are sold inincrements of 125, 75, and 25 blocks. Block plans have an opening balance of meals thatdecline as each meal is used. Block Plan holders may use their meals to treat eligibleDSU friends and guests in any DSU <strong>dining</strong> facility. The plan holder must be present andremain with their guests during the visit. Students living in the <strong>University</strong> Village thathave full kitchens in their apartments may select the 125 Block or the 125 Block PlusPlan in place of a traditional meal plan.UNIVERSITY IDENTIFICATION66


Students who have forgotten or lost their <strong>University</strong> I.D. card may either pay cash orobtain a temporary I.D. from the Student Accounts Office during regularly scheduledwork hours and from the Security Office during all other times. <strong>University</strong> I.D.'s are nottransferable. Students with meal contracts must present a valid <strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>identification card to gain access to the <strong>dining</strong> hall. Special Diets If you live on campusand, for medical reasons, require a diet that cannot be accommodated by our <strong>dining</strong>program, you must first contact Student Health Services. Student Health Services willforward their recommendations to the Director of Dining Services for consultation withthe district-registered dietitian, who will discuss options with you.Dining RegulationsIn order to maintain a pleasant atmosphere in the <strong>dining</strong> hall, all students are expected toobserve the following rules and regulations in all three campus-<strong>dining</strong> locations.Violation of these Dining Regulations, or of other posted requirements, is a violation ofthe Student Code of Conduct, and may lead to disciplinary action by the <strong>University</strong>.1. Present their identification card to the attendant at the entrance to the <strong>dining</strong> hall.2. Refrain from breaking into the line ahead of other persons while waiting to enterthe <strong>dining</strong> hall, standing in the cafeteria line, and going through the cafeteria area.3. Refrain from using obscene and profane language in the <strong>dining</strong> area.4. Remove their dishes and trays from the table after each meal.5. Refrain from carrying any food or equipment from the <strong>dining</strong> hall withoutpermission.6. No "Boom Boxes" or radios are permitted in the <strong>dining</strong> hall.7. Students violating the <strong>dining</strong> hall rules and regulations are subject to the loss ofcampus <strong>dining</strong> hall privileges. Any student whose campus <strong>dining</strong> hall privilegesare withdrawn by the Vice President for Student Affairs may be entitled to aprorated refund under the Refund Policy (available through the Office of StudentAccounts and on-line at www.desu.edu).Campus <strong>dining</strong> hall managers meet with representatives of the Student GovernmentAssociation (see Student Government section for list of representatives) to discuss menuselections, student preferences and new menu ideas. They also meet routinely withinterested students during meal hours. Students should obtain a copy of the DiningServices Guide and become familiar with specific <strong>dining</strong> <strong>services</strong> information andpolicies pertaining to menus, special diets, bag meals, and <strong>dining</strong> <strong>services</strong> generalinformation.67
