Page 28 <strong>Palisades</strong> <strong>News</strong> <strong>June</strong> 3, <strong>2015</strong>Will Rogers 5K Course RevisedThe 38th Annual <strong>Palisades</strong>-Will Rog ers5/10K Race will start at 8:15 a.m. onJuly 4 at the <strong>Palisades</strong> Recreation Center,with two changes in the 5K race course.To make it a true 5K, 427 feet have beenadded and the route altered to eliminate thecongestion that occurs at the Sunset Boulevardand Drummond Street intersectionwith 10K runners.The start and finish lines, and milesplits for miles 1, 2, and 3, will be in thesame locations as prior years.Veterans of the race will notice that theseparation of 5K and 10K runners nowoccurs on northbound Toyopa (5K keepingleft, 10K right), just prior to makingthe right turn onto Drummond.Once at Sunset, 5K runners will turnleft, while 10K runners turn right and continuetheir normal route to Will RogersState Historic Park and back.At Carey Street, 5K runners will turnleft and proceed to Toyopa, where they willagain turn left and run to a U-turn pointon Toyopa, just before reaching DrummondSt., and returning on the oppositeside of Toyopa to the finish line.Red traffic cones will be placed to maintainthe separation of the 5K and 10K races.“If you’ve been looking to set a personalrecord at a true 5K distance,” said race coorganizerLynn Borland, “sign up now asthis could be your year.”Registration for the Will Rogers 5/10K andKids Fun Run is now open. There are twoways to register: online (palisades10k.org)or via an app (<strong>Palisades</strong> 10K).Early entry fees are $50 for the 5/10Krace and $25 for the Kids Fun Run.
