Challenge 6.2Sustainable use andmanagement of land and sea•ENV.2013.6.2-5•Urban biodiversity and green infrastructureGoal:Provide a sound evidence base for the development of green infrastructuresand strategies for planning and design of green infrastructure in cities andurban areas, appropriately adapted to scales from the local to thecity region levelProposals should address:• the potential of sustainable use, as well as the status, trends, role andneeds of urban biodiversity and ecosystem goods and servicesprovided by urban green infrastructure;• the innovation potential of urban ecosystem services (including social innovationand health promotion) regarding their provision, valuation, protection andsustainable use;• the integration of environmental services with socio-cultural and economicservices and the engagement with local communities, as a contribution toa green economy;• planning and governance approaches that support the conservation andrestoration of urban biodiversity and the building and maintaining ofgreen infrastructure.Policy Research andInnovation
