Jinsong setback case studyA survey was undertaken at exit C of Jinsongmetro station on Wednesday 20 August 2014from 11.35-11.50am. Two vehicles blockedthe entire setback where restaurants, a bankand shops are located. During the survey 530pedestrians and 5 bicycles were observedwalking or cycling on the setback, trying tosqueeze past the two parked vehicles. Thehigh number of people affected clearly showsthat parking on setbacks is undesirable inthis location.Empty off-street parking garage. Two cars parked on the setback block passage of530 pedestrians and five cyclistsEmpty off-street parking used for storage.4.4 Off-street parkingWhen illegal parking is easy and on-street parkingcheap, there is little incentive for drivers topark off-street. It also deters private investorsfrom supplying off-street parking.
