Sensors and Electronic Parking GuidanceSystemsIt is recommended to install Electronic ParkingGuidance Systems that show real-time vacancyof <strong>parking</strong> spaces. It directs drivers to nearby<strong>parking</strong> facilities and helps decreasing search timeand cruising. Drivers spend a significant amountof their travel time searching for <strong>parking</strong> andthis measure will reduce that drastically. Everyon-street <strong>parking</strong> space includes an undergroundsensor that identifies whether a <strong>parking</strong> space isoccupied, through radio magnetic fields, whicheliminates issues with inundation due to rain. Thesensors communicate wireless with the <strong>parking</strong>meters which communicate with the centralsystem that controls the automatic updates ofvacancies. It is recommended to include vacanciesof off-street <strong>parking</strong> spaces as well (by cooperatingwith management companies of <strong>parking</strong> inpublic <strong>parking</strong> garages) in order to lure driversaway from on-street <strong>parking</strong> and make better useof available off-street <strong>parking</strong>.Sensors in every <strong>parking</strong> spot detect whether a space isoccupied or not.
