The CID-CPDC Camp Crame took over <strong>the</strong> investigation from <strong>the</strong> police <strong>of</strong>ficers.<br />
Witnesses Merlito Jerbas, Freddie Alejo, Minella Alarcon, Cesar Espiritu and<br />
Aurora Urbano were interviewed by <strong>the</strong> police <strong>of</strong>ficers and were brought to <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
headquarters in Camp Karingal where <strong>the</strong>ir formal statements were taken. (TSN, August<br />

The Accused-Appellants<br />
Lenido Lumanog and Rameses de Jesus<br />
At around 7:00 in <strong>the</strong> evening <strong>of</strong> June 12, 1996, Lenido Lumanog toge<strong>the</strong>r with<br />
Rameses de Jesus, Romeo Costibolo, Manny dela Rosa and Bonnie Mandalog left<br />
Fairview for Mabalacat, Pampanga arriving <strong>the</strong>re at around 10:00 p.m. (TSN, August 20,<br />
1998, pp. 5-6. March 9, 1999, p. 7, 11).<br />
From 12:00 midnight until about 4:00 a.m. <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> next day, <strong>the</strong> group were<br />
digging for treasure at <strong>the</strong> compound <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tiglao Residence, in front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mabalacat<br />
Church. At. 4:00 a.m. until about 10:00 a.m. <strong>the</strong>y slept inside <strong>the</strong> bodega in <strong>the</strong> same<br />
compound. Costibolo was <strong>the</strong> first to wake up and and he woke up all his companions,<br />
Lumanog, Rameses, Bobby and Boni. They <strong>the</strong>n helped <strong>the</strong> Tiglao family for <strong>the</strong><br />
celebration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> wedding anniversary until about 12:00 noon after which <strong>the</strong>y joined in<br />
<strong>the</strong> celebration. At 6:00 p.m. <strong>the</strong>y resumed <strong>the</strong>ir digging. (TSN, August 20, 1998, pp. 10-<br />

It was only on June 14, 1996 when Lumanog, Rameses de Jesus and Costibolo<br />
went back to Manila to get provisions arriving at 10:00 a.m. Bonnie and Manny were left<br />
at Mabalacat, Pampanga. (TSN, August 20, 1998, p. 15-17; March 9, 1999, p. 19). The<br />
three, Lumanog, de Jesus and Costibolo went back to Mabalacat on June 19, 1996.(TSN,<br />
