People <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Philippines</strong> vs. Fortuna, et. al.<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r set <strong>of</strong> police <strong>of</strong>ficers, this time from <strong>the</strong> CID-CPDC, Camp Crame<br />

proceeded to <strong>the</strong> hospital where <strong>the</strong> victim’s body was brought. There were actually three<br />

teams that proceeded to <strong>the</strong> crime scene. The first team is composed <strong>of</strong> Officers Jurado,<br />

Gonzales and Gutierrez. The second team is composed <strong>of</strong> Officers Nicanor and Castillo<br />

and <strong>the</strong> third is composed <strong>of</strong> Officer Jaraza and <strong>the</strong> follow up team. (p. 60). Officer<br />

Jurado interviewed <strong>the</strong> persons who brought <strong>the</strong> victim to <strong>the</strong> hospital. ( 74)<br />

While at <strong>the</strong> hospital, <strong>the</strong> CID-CPDC investigators monitored over <strong>the</strong>ir radio that<br />

an abandoned car was reported found at Aguinaldo St. in Proj. 4. (p. 73)<br />

At about 10:00 a.m. that same morning (77) P/Insp. Rogelio Castillo toge<strong>the</strong>r with<br />

Nicanor, found <strong>the</strong> abandoned KIA Pride with plate no. PTZ 401 (78) at Aguinaldo St., in<br />

Proj. 4 (76). They found <strong>the</strong> KIA Pride with blood stains in <strong>the</strong> right front and right rear<br />

door knobs.(80)<br />

Castillo and Nicanor interviewed three or four persons who told <strong>the</strong>m that four men<br />

“hurriedly alighted from <strong>the</strong> vehicle.” (81) These informants described <strong>the</strong><br />

suspects as 30-35 years old, almost <strong>the</strong> same age, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m was about 5’7” or<br />

5’8” in height and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r is smaller. (83) These police <strong>of</strong>ficers waited for crime<br />

lab technicians to arrive at <strong>the</strong> area. When Sr. Insp. Lily Corpuz (87), Remedios<br />

Dedicatoria (TSN, January 9, 1998, p. 31), and ano<strong>the</strong>r crime lab technicians<br />

arrived, <strong>the</strong> two police <strong>of</strong>ficers, Castillo and Nicanor proceeded to <strong>the</strong> crime<br />

scene.<br />

Castillo and Nicanor arrived at <strong>the</strong> crime scene shortly before 11:00 a.m. (p. 88) They no<br />

longer saw <strong>the</strong> car as it was already brought to <strong>the</strong> police station. (90). They<br />

interviewed three to four persons in <strong>the</strong> area and was told that four men shot at a<br />

man driving a black car. (92-93). After preparing a rough sketch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> area, <strong>the</strong><br />

two police <strong>of</strong>ficers went to <strong>the</strong> police station 8. (100) where several witnesses<br />

were also brought for <strong>the</strong>ir statements.<br />

Crime lab technicians lifted fingerprint samples from <strong>the</strong> two cars: <strong>the</strong> Honda<br />

Accord with Plate No. RNA 777 and <strong>the</strong> KIA Pride with Plate No. PTZ 401. These<br />

fingerprint samples were later compared with fingerprint samples from all <strong>the</strong> accused in<br />

this case.<br />

The Honda Accord was <strong>the</strong>n brought to <strong>the</strong> police station by PO1 Ronald Zamora<br />

and PO2 Daganta. (p. 31)<br />
