Music ReviewTrapeze Album by Hu DostReviewed by Natalia Roldan HartNatalia RoldanHartThis independent albumis a thoughtful arrangementof eclectic sounds,all expressive, all poetic.Some songs are edgy rocktunes with an infusion ofsoft sounds;ot<strong>her</strong>s, soulfulmelodiesincorporatingthe fluidityof the Frenchlanguage.But mostimportantly,all of thelyrics in thealbum arevague- seeminglyfor artistic licenseor for the listener’s variedinterpretations. One of myfavorite songs on the disc is“Trespasser,” an empoweringsong that is soft on the spiritand talks to its listenersabout unexpected changesand challenges in life. “Waiting,”my second favorite, isabout a lovers’ wait for theirone and only. You can feel thelonging and ache in MokshaSommer’s vocals (principalvocalist).If I must compare thealbum to any ot<strong>her</strong>, I wouldsay it has a touch of NoraJones-in essence, the sametype of pensive lyrics, thesame relaxing melodies, yetall the while profound. However,the album has a muchmore worldly quality witha Mediterranean vibe andearthy beats. Each song hasa purposeful message- somemeditative and sad, whileot<strong>her</strong>s express transformationand revival. Mokshauses <strong>her</strong> voice well to go fromsmooth and contemplative toupbeat and edgy.In summary, this reviewis but a quick glimpse intothe talented musical worldof Hu Dost. If <strong>you</strong>’re lookingto experience an album withglobal rhythm and a sensefor poetry, Trapeze may be<strong>you</strong>r next musical fancy.VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!We are looking for women aged 25 and 65 to participate in a study of HPV infections.Volunteers will be asked to collect vaginal samples at home for HPV testing and to completequestionnaires.
