AMCS Bulletin 12 — Chapter 5 111Discussion: Paste is moderately compact, porous, andfriable. Tempering includes small to medium calciteparticles. Rim is direct, with an interior-beveledlip. Lip has two circumferential thumbnail incisions.Black trickle decoration begins just belowthe lip (as a cross-like motif) and bifurcates pastthe neck in broad stripes. The slip of the vesselranges from light brown (7.5YR 6/4) to reddishbrown (5YR 5/4). Paint is a deep black (2.5N). Slipis thin and crazing is visible. The black paint hasdiscolored the underlying slip, which suggests thepigment was mildly acidic. The color of this underlying“stain” (visible along the edges of thetrickle decoration) is red (2.5YR 5/6).Tolok Black-on-orange: TolokGroup: UnspecifiedEstablished by: Robles Castellanos 1990:79–80Regional Inter-Cave Distribution and Frequency:Actun Toh 3Regional Intersite Distribution: N/RRepresentative General Distribution: Cobá (RoblesCastellanos 1990:79–80)Description: see Robles Castellanos 1990:79–80Type Collection Reference: Cobá Q-5Forms Present in Caves: OllaIllustrations: N/AKantenah Black-on-orange SpecialGroup: UnspecifiedRegional Inter-Cave Distribution and Frequency:Actun Toh 1Regional Intersite Distribution: N/RRepresentative General Distribution: Xelha (Canché1992:91)Description: Canché 1992:91Type Collection Reference: N/AForms Present in Caves: OllaIllustrations: N/AKantenah Red-on-orange SpecialGroup: UnspecifiedEstablished by: Type: Canché 1992:89Regional Inter-Cave Distribution and Frequency: PakCh’en 1Regional Intersite Distribution: type at T’isil (CejaAcosta 2000)Representative General Distribution: type at Xelha(Canché 1992:89)Description: for type: Canché 1992:89Type Collection Reference: N/AForms Present in Caves: N/AIllustrations: 5.24, dDiscussion: Paint has been applied to the sherd with abrush (not by trickle technique).
