Any other comments?Seizure and ImpoundingThe consultation paper is silent on the methods <strong>of</strong> capture and maintenance <strong>of</strong> animals onceseized and detained.The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Bayswater</strong> would suggest that provision be included by way <strong>of</strong> Cat Regulations,setting out prescribed methods <strong>of</strong> capture and capture devices.MicrochippingMicrochipping is a method <strong>of</strong> identification that is becoming popular <strong>with</strong> pet owners. Iflegislation provided for the registration and microchipping <strong>of</strong> cats, the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Bayswater</strong> wouldrecommend that the legislation include specifications for a standard type <strong>of</strong> microchip for use<strong>with</strong>in the State. One objective <strong>of</strong> the legislation is toencourage responsible cat ownership. Providing for mandatory sterilisation <strong>of</strong> cats removes thedecision relating to sterilisation from the cat owner.
