OUR <strong>HUTT</strong> <strong>CITY</strong>I LOVE <strong>HUTT</strong> <strong>CITY</strong>Piri Weepu’s Mum, Kura, shared a cup oftea, laughter and deep conversation aboutAmerican politics with Mayor Ray Wallace.Kura didn’t hesitate when asked to be thefirst ‘I Love <strong>Hutt</strong> <strong>City</strong>’ champion. In thiscampaign, the <strong>Council</strong> wants to highlightthe reasons why people love living here.PHUNDAMENTALSMTB SKILLSTE RĀ O TE RAUKURAThe annual Te Rā o Te Raukurafestival is set to be bigger and betterthan ever in 2012! Held on Sunday5 February at Te Whiti Park inWaiwhetu, the day begins at 9am witha karakia before kicking off into a fullprogramme of entertainment.Headline acts Katchafire, Ria Hall,Foundation, Brown Hill, MTown, andGroove Roots will provide high qualitymusic throughout the day.Entrance to the event is free, and organisersare expecting a crowd of more than 20,000.There will also be a number of health, artand education sites, providing informationand services.Look out for <strong>Council</strong>’s site, where wewill be asking you what you love about<strong>Hutt</strong> <strong>City</strong> and giving out ‘I love <strong>Hutt</strong> <strong>City</strong>’badges.Also, there will be more than 80 sites sellingan amazing array of food, crafts and clothing.A number of cultural groups are scheduledto feature on stage among the bands and aspecial appearance will also be made by theJunior Warriors rugby league team.The event is presented by Atiawa Toa FM,and roving MCs will capture the atmospherein live broadcasts.
