After seĥr ended, the adhān ofFajr was called and ten minutes later Fajr śalāt began, duringwhich the imam recited the qunūt nāzila 35 with specialdu‘ās for the protection of the Blessed Precincts. After Fajr,newcomers or departees met with Ĥađrat; this lasted for ½hour to 45 minutes [in the last few days the crowd was enormous].After Fajr, most of the people in i‘tikāf rested andthen awoke at about 8:30 a.m. to carry out their individualdevotions. At 11 a.m, Muftī Maĥmūd Ĥasan Gangohī gave atalk for a ½ hour on matters of taśawwuf and sulūk 36 [sometranscribed these talks while others recorded them on theirtape recorders].The adhān of Ẓuhr was called at 2 p.m. and śalāt began at2:30 p.m. Khatm-e-khawājagān was held immediately afterẒuhr followed by a long du‘ā [by Shaikh ‘Abd al-Ĥāfiż Makkī].Those prescribed dhikr performed dhikr loudly while othersread their aurād and individual daily devotions. ‘Aśr began at5:30 p.m. followed by a reading session which continued until½ hour before Maghrib. In the last ten days, Ikmāl al-Shiyamwas started after Irshād al-Mulūk was completed. Then peopleprepared for Maghrib and sat to perform individual du‘ā andistighfār until ifţār. On Friday, the śalāt and salām,ْ ْ تَسلِيمًاِّ ‏ُمِّي وَآلِهِ‏ وَ‏ سَ‏ لِّمِّ النَّبِي االْ‏‏ّدِ‏ نَا وَموالَ‏ نَا مُحَ‏ مَّدِ‏اَللَّهُمَّ‏ صَ‏ لِّ‏ عَ‏ لَي سَ‏ يِ‏was recited eighty times before the reading session after ‘Aśr.Additionally, devotees and others had the opportunity to meetwith Ĥađrat after the five daily śalāts, after the gathering of bai‘aafter Maghrib, and after Fajr when departees and newcomers cameto shake hands with him.35 A du‘ā the Blessed Prophet s made in Fajr śalāt after an incident in whichseventy Śaĥāba l were massacred.
