<strong>Student</strong> Direct AccessThe University <strong>of</strong> South Florida wishes to provide open access to students, with as fewrestrictions <strong>and</strong> regulations as possible. <strong>Student</strong>s <strong>are</strong> afforded direct access to much <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir datastored in <strong>the</strong> student information system. This access is provided so that students have greaterflexibility <strong>and</strong> control over <strong>the</strong>ir interactions with <strong>the</strong> University.All direct access afforded to students shall be provided through secure means using <strong>the</strong>appropriate au<strong>the</strong>ntication <strong>and</strong> encryption mechanisms for <strong>the</strong> delivery medium. Prior to directaccess to student information system students <strong>are</strong> required to read <strong>and</strong> acknowledge <strong>the</strong>iracceptance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following Terms <strong>of</strong> Usage statement:Terms <strong>of</strong> UsageYou <strong>are</strong> entering a secure information <strong>are</strong>a. Unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise noted, any information youenter or change will be effective immediately. You <strong>are</strong> responsible for any changes madeusing your ID.Your PIN is your "password" to access <strong>the</strong> system <strong>and</strong> your records <strong>and</strong> information.Please do not sh<strong>are</strong> your ID or PIN with o<strong>the</strong>rs. While you have a right to inspect <strong>and</strong>review your records, o<strong>the</strong>r individuals do not without your consent. The State <strong>of</strong> Floridahas felony laws against unauthorized use, including accessing ano<strong>the</strong>r user's account.Civil penalties can include imprisonment <strong>of</strong> up to fifteen years <strong>and</strong> fines. The universitymay also impose administrative penalties or sanctions against those who <strong>are</strong> found tohave violated <strong>the</strong> law.The University <strong>of</strong> South Florida wishes to provide open access to students, with as fewrestrictions <strong>and</strong> regulations. The <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Registrar has been delegated <strong>the</strong>responsibility for assuring that information about students is released only to individualsthat have legally authorized access. Therefore to protect <strong>the</strong> security <strong>and</strong> confidentiality<strong>of</strong> your records <strong>and</strong> information, <strong>the</strong> Registrar's <strong>Office</strong> has implemented a securityprocedure to periodically expire your PIN/password. When this occurs, OASIS willprompt you to decl<strong>are</strong> a new PIN. As a means <strong>of</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r protecting your own records, werecommend that you change your PIN <strong>of</strong>ten.Usage Certification Statement:For <strong>the</strong> protection <strong>and</strong> security <strong>of</strong> my records as well as those <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r students,I WILL NOT:1. Access ano<strong>the</strong>r user's account or misrepresent my identity.2. Allow ano<strong>the</strong>r person to access my account or sh<strong>are</strong> my password.3. Intentionally disrupt <strong>the</strong> legitimate use <strong>of</strong> computing facilities by o<strong>the</strong>r people.
