The modern day punk band Pennywise grew up in Hermosa Beach and went to MiraCosta High School in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Union High School in RedondoBeach.Hermosa Beach has been the sister city of Loreto, Baja California Sur, since 1967.On May 9, 2006, a popular restaurant and nightclub in Hermosa Beach for 80 years,known as Baja Sharkeez, was destroyed by a fire.
