FleetDuring 1999 Aer Lingus operated a peak fleet of 38 aircraft, of which 22 were owned orheld under finance leases and 16 held under operating leases. In addition, Futura has acore fleet of 12 aircraft held on operating leases.Deliveries received during the year included one Airbus A330-200 and three A321-200swith a further A330-200 and one A320-200 delivered in the current year.The Aer Lingus Group fleet strategy involves the implementation of a fleet re-balancingprogramme with the objective of owning approximately two thirds of the aircraftoperated. This will address an imbalance in the proportion of operating leases versusaircraft owned or held under finance leases.The Aer Lingus fleet will be progressively standardised to no more than two aircraft typeson European routes and one on transatlantic routes.17
