Burkina Faso1. Trends in <strong>HIV</strong> prevalenceCompared with Zimbabwe and Uganda, Burkina Faso’s <strong>HIV</strong> epidemic has been less severe(Figure 16). The estimated peak <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> epidemic occurred in 1998, with a highest estimated <strong>HIV</strong>prevalence <strong>of</strong> 2.7% for women. This epidemic, since it was less severe, may <strong>the</strong>refore showdifferent patterns than those in Zimbabwe and Uganda.
