3. Trends in fertility action: marital status, sexual activity, contraceptive use, and birth spacingMarriage rates for all women show a fluctuating pattern in Uganda (Figure 11). Between1988/1989 and 1995 <strong>the</strong> percentage <strong>of</strong> women who are married increases for all age groups, froman overall percentage <strong>of</strong> 54% to 64%. After this increase, however, <strong>the</strong> overall percentagemarried drops to 45% in 2000/2001, and <strong>the</strong>n rises again to 49% in 2006.
