Acting is animportant component of musicaltheater training. In Acting TechniqueI & II, students learn a variety ofapproaches, methods and actingtechniques. Both classes providestudents with concentrated work inimprovisation, character development,scene work, monologue study, stagedirection, script analysis, critiquing andmime techniques.Audition TechniqueSundays at 11amLearn to impress directors!Auditioning well for musical theateris a vital component of being asuccessful performer. Students will learnvaluable tools to make them confidentauditionees: Conveying thoughtsverbally and non-verbally, cold reads,breaking down scripts, makingadjustments, tricks for memorizing,industry terminology, characterization,ensemble acting, observation &choosing and working appropriateaudition material.BalletLevel I: Mondays at 4pm &Wednesdays at 5pmLevel II: Tuesdays at 4pmBallet is a classical form of dance basedon traditional positions of the arms andfeet, and can be mastered by itself orused as a technical base or supplementto other dance forms. Classes consist ofbarre exercises and center floor work,focusing on overall body alignment andawareness with emphasis on properusage of feet, legs and turnout.ContemporarySaturdays at 10amModern dance appeals to the creative,artistic soul in everyone because ofits expressiveness and freedom ofindividuality. Contemporary danceis a fusion of jazz, ballet, hip-hop,lyrical and many modern dance styles,encouraging pedestrian-like movement.Intro to VoiceMondays at 6pmThis introductory course is designedto establish the basic techniques ofvocal production, pitch control, toneproduction, and breathing throughvarious exercises and demonstrations ina choral/group setting.JazzLevel I: Wednesdays at 4pmLevel II: Thursdays at 4pmLevel III: Wednesdays at 4pmJazz is an exciting and ever-evolvingdance form full of rhythm, syncopation,passion and life. Classes explore bodyisolations of the head, shoulders,ribcage, feet and arms. Conceived inAmerica, its technique derives fromballet and is influenced by the styles ofeach succeeding decade.
