Impressive possibilitiesIndividual machine testsThe Voith FTC can test not onlyentire stock-preparation lines butalso individual machines. Thisenables us to separately optimizeeach module – including pulping,screening, flotation, refining andbleaching – for your specificrequirements. Then we candemonstrate, for example, whichfillings and power input you needfor optimal refining results at yourfacility.Subsystem testsSubsystem tests enable optimalcoordination of individual processmodules. Modern paper laboratoryThe samples we take from our stockpreparation test facility are analyzedin the FTC laboratory using stateof-the-arttechniques. This providesprecise test data as a further basisfor assessing our process-optimizationresults.Our laboratory services are alsoavailable to you regardless ofwhether you take advantage ofthe FTC test facilities. You can,therefore, benefit from the scientificknow-how of our laboratory specialistsfor analyzing samples from yourown stock preparation line. We offerrapid and precisely reproducibleanalyses of stock, water, and papercharacteristics, using more than 80different laboratory methods accordingto DIN, ISO, TAPPI or SCAN.We use a professional IT system forall sample management and loggingof laboratory test data. The resultsprovide you with a dependable andconclusive decision-making basis tosupport your process-optimizationinvestments.67

Process support andEngineeringProcess supportOur process-support expertsprovide assistance in all aspectsof papermaking, such as troubleshooting,production increases, andintegrating new process modulesor units. We start by analyzing thepresent state of your productionline, taking samples and detailedbalances, including evaluation of allyour process technology data. Fromthese findings, we develop a list ofspecific measures to take. In thisway, our process support helps youmake decisions that not only solveyour short-term problems, but alsobring sustainable improvements.EngineeringOur engineering team supportsyou in the planning, concept, andrealization stages of your newline, along with rebuilds andexpansions. This support startswith the pre-engineering phase,when we work out an innovative lineconcept with you and tell you justhow much you will have to invest.Next comes the basic engineeringstage, where we determine both thenecessary process machinery andgroups and the line layout. Finally,in the detailed engineering phase,we establish with you preciselyhow your new line will be broughtto fruition and installed, rebuilt orextended.

Joining forcesRieger paper mill in Trostberg,Bavaria, produces high-gradecoated paper and corrugated boardfrom 100 percent recovered paper.The mill faces ongoing problemsin stock preparation for the coverlayer because of foreign materials,such as foil, in its furnish.
