C-RAIDSituational Awareness and C2 Capabilitiesfor Tactical, Maritime Platforms

The C-RaidSolutionC-Raid is a Tactical, Situational Awareness and Command & Control system for:– Naval and Coast Guard Patrol Vessels including Interceptors– Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boats (RHIB) deployed from larger vessels– Special Operation Forces (SOF) platforms of opportunityBenefits– Improved decision making process – Shared real-time Situational Awareness– Effective mission execution – Tactical data-link enabled Command & Control– Enhanced force protection – Force tracking, man-over-board and last known position– Flexible updates of mission data – Send routes, overlays and images during execution– Easy to learn and operate – User friendly interface and simulation function– Support for full mission cycle – Planning, executing and recording functionality– Reduced error rate – Using digital messaging and positioning– Integrates onboard systems – Support for FLIR/EO cameras, ARPA, AIS and GPS– Use multiple data communication systems – Support for UHF, VHF and HF tactical radios,SATCOM and WiFi– Enabling joint operations – C4I interface to air, land and naval systemsSystemLayoutThe three C-Raid products can be tailored into various system configurations:– Maritime Panel PC (MPPC) – Ruggedized, touch-screen operator computerfor open boats likes RHIBs and Interceptors with limited space for equipment– Maritime Workstation (MWS) – Touch-screen operator computer forclosed environments like larger vessels and Tactical Operation Centers (TOC)– Maritime Tactical Access Unit (MTAU) – Ruggedized gateway computermanaging data-link and supporting multiple radios and operator computersNavy, Coast Guard and SOF units operating C-Raid products for platform specific missions

New NavalChallengesThe C-RaidSolutionFor asymmetric threats and access-denial missions within the Economic ExclusionZone (EEZ) or in international operations, Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats (RHIB)and Patrol Vessels are more often involved in maritime patrolling and interceptionoperations. The threat level varies from smugglers, illegal fishing and terrorismattacks to intrusion by enemy forces. To meet the threats it is of vital importance, that the units are able to coordinate their operations. Today, most of these units onlyhave simple onboard navigation and voice communication systems.Full mission coordination requires a tactical, joint overview of all units in the area formaximum efficiency and minimum collateral damage. The C-Raid solution introducesNetwork Based Operations (NBO) to small vessels, tying multiple units together viacommunication links allowing the operators to share the operational picture andsensor feed, and exchanging data, messages and overlays.. Compared to traditionalvoice communication, the NBO-concept widely expands the operational potentialand operation effectiveness by integrating even the smallest networked units in thesituational overview.Functionality– Track Management – blue and red forcetracking with APP-6 symbols, track correlation– Own Unit Management – own ship position, course and speed on-screen– Message Management – send and receivemessages with attachments– Route Management – pre-planned routes, intercept and search-and-rescue functions– Tactical Overlays – time dependant overlayssupporting shapes and APP-6 symbols– Operations Management – send full OPORDincluding attachments and monitor status– Alert Management – event notification; e.g.perimeter alerts and inactivity time-out– Radio Management – set radio parameterslike frequencies and network configuration– Camera Management – live video andcontrol of FLIR and supported PTZ cameras– Planning & Simulation – plan and testoperation data before briefing and providetraining environment for operators– Recording and replay management –capturing of track history, messages andevents for later replay under debriefings– Security Management – includinginactivity time-out with lock terminal andzeroize functions, and key managementcenter– System Administration – maintainoperators, access rights and system settings– Sensor and System Support – GPS, AISand ARPA as well as C4I interface
