China’s commercial aerospace industry boosts support for Asian Aerospace 20<strong>07</strong>(<strong>02</strong> <strong>Mar</strong>ch, 20<strong>07</strong>) Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress, which already enjoysendorsement by the General Administration of Civil <strong>Aviation</strong> of China (CAAC), has received significantnew backing from public and private sector enterprises in China, which see the event as the perfectplatform to boost two way trading opportunities in the global commercial aerospace market.The Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, P.R.C. (COSTIND) willsupport Reed Exhibitions, through an agreement with COSTIND Media Centre (the division withinCOSTIND responsible for exhibition coordination), to promote jointly what is shaping up to be thesingle largest dedicated civil aerospace industry event in the world, when it is held at its new venue inAsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong from September 3-6, 20<strong>07</strong>.Companies located in the two aerospace industry bases in the cities of Xian, and Tianjin have alsoconfirmed their participation at Asian Aerospace to showcase their growing expertise in manufacturingand research & development (R&D).The setting up of the Xian <strong>Aviation</strong> Industrial in the ancient city, renowned for its terracotta warriors,is a firm indication of China’s commitment to boosting the aerospace industry infrastructure beyondjust the major cities. We believe that our participation at AsianAerospace will lead to increased opportunities for collaboration with international partners for mutuallong term benefits.”Recently China <strong>Aviation</strong> Industry Corporation I (AVIC 1) has signed up to participate at the show.AVIC 1 encompasses 47 large and medium-sized manufacturing facilities, 31 research anddevelopment institutes, 22 affiliated specialised companies and institutions, with a total employment ofalmost quarter of a million staff. AVIC II, which specialises in the feeder and rotary wing aircraft sector,has also signed up to participate at Asian Aerospace.Included among the international line-up of leading industry companies which has signed up for AsianAerospace so far are Airbus parent company EADS, Boeing, Bombardier, Action <strong>Aviation</strong>, Aviall,<strong>Aviation</strong> Australia, Jet <strong>Aviation</strong>, Lufthansa Technik, and United Technologies Corporation, amongothers.


National industry and group pavilions which will be represented include Australia, Austria, Canada,France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, the United States, and the UK.Major support for Asian Aerospace has also been pledged by an array of public and private sectororganisations in Hong Kong and China, including Invest Hong Kong, Hong Kong Civil <strong>Aviation</strong>Department, The General Administration of Civil <strong>Aviation</strong> of China (CAAC), Commission of ScienceTechnology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND), Airport Authority Hong Kong, the HongKong Tourism Board, and the Aerospace Forum Asia (AFA).A high-level Congress will form a key component of the event, bringing together major players fromacross aerospace and aviation to discuss the exciting opportunities the region’s fast-growing marketwill deliver.The congress will be organised in partnership with Flight, the world’s longest established brand inaviation media, which provides global intelligence and resources to everyone involved in or with apassion for aviation.
