38658time. 4714 According to Leslie, the intensity was high b<strong>et</strong>ween approximately 5 and 7a.m. 4715 From what the witness could observe from 6 a.m. onwards there was, however,no concentration of fire or any discernible pattern that corresponded to any obviousaim. 4716 Most of the fire was directed towards the centre of the town. 4717 Fromapproximately 7 a.m. onwards, the fire decreased significantly and instead of explosions<strong>al</strong>l over the city, the explosions were grouped across specific regions of the town wherea shell first d<strong>et</strong>onated, and after one or a few minutes another shell d<strong>et</strong>onated 200-300m<strong>et</strong>res from the first one. 4718 That process would be repeated sever<strong>al</strong> times. 4719 Thenfour to six shells landed tightly grouped tog<strong>et</strong>her. 4720 According to Leslie, this signifiedthat the HV artillery was engaged in targ<strong>et</strong> grid procedure, that is directing the artillerytowards a particular targ<strong>et</strong> through visu<strong>al</strong> observation. 4721 According to Leslie, the largeanti-aircraft facility to the south-east of the UN compound was deliberately targ<strong>et</strong>ed andwas effectively neutr<strong>al</strong>ised by the HV artillery. 4722 Shells were <strong>al</strong>so fired at the factorycomplex at the south-east portion of the train yards. 4723 With these two exceptions andaccording to Leslie’s observations, the legitimate military targ<strong>et</strong>s in Knin were not hit inany significant manner. 4724 According to Leslie, the mass of shells from 7 a.m. onwardson 4 August 1995 landed on mainly residenti<strong>al</strong> areas in the centre of town. 47251279.
