39000open. 2387 On 28 August 1995, persons wearing grey cover-<strong>al</strong>l uniforms stopped CaptainDangerfield, Sergeant Green and Berikoff about five kilom<strong>et</strong>res south of Uništa, andordered them to turn around and not come back because there were still “evil Ch<strong>et</strong>niks”in the area. 2388 On 29 and 30 August 1995, Berikoff and Parlee drove Journ<strong>al</strong>ist GarthPritchard around in the areas of Knin, Kistanje, Razvoñe in Oklaj municip<strong>al</strong>ity, Drniš,Vrbnik in Orlić municip<strong>al</strong>ity, Gračac and Donji Lapac, where he saw persons in civilianclothes or uniform, dead anim<strong>al</strong>s, destroyed houses and vehicles, as well as an intactwater tower in Kistanje. 2389 In Kistanje around 95 per cent of the buildings weredestroyed. 2390 On 1 September 1995, Parlee and Berikoff travelled to Obrovac andsever<strong>al</strong> other villages in the north western area of Sector South. 2391 There was ongoinglooting and burning of houses. 2392 Berikoff stated that on the road b<strong>et</strong>ween Macure andObrovac, there were at least some destroyed houses in <strong>al</strong>most every village or haml<strong>et</strong>,and that some haml<strong>et</strong>s were compl<strong>et</strong>ely destroyed. 2393 Berikoff once saw a civilian mancarrying a jerrycan enter a house, then leave the house empty-handed a few minuteslater, and as he was w<strong>al</strong>king away the house erupted into flames. 2394 He saw no civilpolice or military in Obrovac that day. 2395 Berikoff wrote that, on 2 September 1995,persons in grey cover-<strong>al</strong>l uniforms stopped him and others on the road towards C<strong>et</strong>inaand Uništa, forced them to turn around, and escorted them back to the mainhighway. 2396 There were numerous houses on fire.
