On 20 August 1995, Berikoff and others travelled up through the Donji Lapacarea and noticed that there was still a lot of military activity around the town of DonjiLapac. 2378 They saw Croatian military and police loading trucks with v<strong>al</strong>uables fromhouses. 2379 They <strong>al</strong>so saw many dead anim<strong>al</strong>s, some on the road with cables aroundtheir necks and others hanging from trees. 2380 Berikoff wrote that they <strong>al</strong>so saw “Croats”dragging a pig by a cable behind their truck, then stopping and throwing it over anembankment, and in another incident shooting a pig and then running over it. 2381Berikoff stated that many houses had been destroyed <strong>al</strong>ong the route b<strong>et</strong>ween Knin andOtrić, in Gračac municip<strong>al</strong>ity, and that some haml<strong>et</strong>s had been tot<strong>al</strong>ly destroyed. 2382 AtOtrić, they were stopped at a check-point by civil police, who told them that they couldnot go to Donji Lapac because there were still operations there, and forced them to turnaround. 2383 Berikoff and his companions took another road through Gračac to DonjiLapac. 2384 Berikoff stated that a number of houses were destroyed <strong>al</strong>ong the routeb<strong>et</strong>ween Otrić and Gračac. 2385541.
