39193disappearance of Popović’s guitar and sever<strong>al</strong> kilograms of honey. 832 On 7 August1995, Popović awoke around 5 or 6 a.m. and saw soldiers in Mokro Polje through hisbinoculars. 833 When he heard a tractor approaching Popovići he hid behind his house. 834He was soon approached by his father and around five soldiers who were dressed andhad their faces painted like the soldiers he had seen the day before, and the witnessstated that he saw the l<strong>et</strong>ters “HV” on ov<strong>al</strong> patches on their uniforms. 835 The witnessbelieved one soldier, who neither wore a hat nor had his face painted black, to be thecommander because he heard that soldier tell another, very young, soldier, “Little one,take him over” and add, “We must hand him over to the police”. 836 Popović told thesoldiers that he had a document stating that he had not been in the army, and the soldierhe believed to be the commander told him to bring it. 837 According to the witness, the“commander” spoke with a Drniš accent, and the witness heard someone c<strong>al</strong>l him“Stipe”. 838 The witness went and got his documents while being escorted by the soldierc<strong>al</strong>led “little one”, who <strong>al</strong>so spoke with a Drniš accent. 839 After Popović showed the“commander” his documents, he and his father w<strong>al</strong>ked to a nearby house in the haml<strong>et</strong>with the soldiers, who told the witness to sit down. 840 He watched soldiers enter everyhouse in Popovići, forcibly opening any locked doors, taking v<strong>al</strong>uable objects such ashams and television s<strong>et</strong>s and placing them on a tractor. 841 The witness’s mother came tohim and told him that the “commander” had told her that the witness could r<strong>et</strong>urn home,after which they r<strong>et</strong>urned home at approximately 1 p.m. 842 The witness went upstairs tohis bedroom and fell asleep. 843230.
