GEORGIA AND GEORGIANS 2797*Judge Colley is a native <strong>of</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>and</strong> is a scion <strong>of</strong> a family that wasfounded in this commonwealth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Union more than a century <strong>and</strong> aquarter ago.At La Grange, Troup County, <strong>Georgia</strong>, Judge frank H. Colley was bornon <strong>the</strong> 27th .<strong>of</strong> June, 1848, <strong>and</strong> he is a son <strong>of</strong> Henry F. <strong>and</strong> Isabella M.(Harris) Colley, both <strong>of</strong> whom were born <strong>and</strong> reared in Wilkes County, thisstate, <strong>the</strong> original representatives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Colley family in <strong>Georgia</strong> havingcome to this state from Virginia in 1782.' Francis Colley, gr<strong>and</strong>fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong>him whose name initiates this review, was for many years a planter <strong>and</strong> influential citizen <strong>of</strong> Wilkes County, <strong>and</strong> with <strong>the</strong> same line <strong>of</strong> industrial enterprise <strong>the</strong> maternal gr<strong>and</strong>fa<strong>the</strong>r, Archibald Harris, was actively identifiedafter his removal from Virginia to <strong>Georgia</strong>. The paternal great-gr<strong>and</strong>fa<strong>the</strong>r<strong>of</strong> Judge Colley was a patriot soldier in <strong>the</strong> war <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Revolution, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>subject <strong>of</strong> this sketch has in his possession 1
