2894 GEORGIA AND GEORGIANSShaw are members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Methodist Episcopal Church. They are <strong>the</strong> parents<strong>of</strong> two children: Walter Barnett; <strong>and</strong> Maud, who is <strong>the</strong> wife <strong>of</strong> Madison A.Park, a resident <strong>of</strong> Chattanooga, Tennessee.Walter Barnett Shaw received his early education in <strong>the</strong> graded <strong>and</strong> highschools <strong>of</strong> La Fayette, <strong>and</strong> after some preparation entered <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong><strong>Georgia</strong>, in 1900. There he pursued a literary <strong>and</strong> law course <strong>and</strong> was graduated in 1904, at which time he entered upon <strong>the</strong> practice <strong>of</strong> his pr<strong>of</strong>ession atLa Fayette, <strong>Georgia</strong>, in partnership with J. W. Bale, under <strong>the</strong> firm style <strong>of</strong>Bale & Shaw. In October, 1905, he was made assistant solicitor-general, underW. H. Ennis, solictor <strong>of</strong> Rome District, <strong>and</strong> continued to act in that capacityuntil January 1, 1909, when he became <strong>the</strong> law partner <strong>of</strong> Solicitor Ennis,<strong>the</strong> firm rapidly advancing to a prominent position among <strong>the</strong> firms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Rome District. This connection continued until January 1, 1914, when Mr.Shaw came to La Fayette <strong>and</strong> formed a partnership with his cousin, James E.Rosser, under <strong>the</strong> style <strong>of</strong> Rosser & Shaw, <strong>and</strong> in addition to his private practice still holds <strong>the</strong> position <strong>of</strong> assistant solicitor under his former partner, Mr.Ennis. Mr. Shaw has brought to <strong>the</strong> practice <strong>of</strong> his pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>the</strong> naturalaptitude which is inherent in a mind <strong>of</strong> logical <strong>and</strong> analytical power, as wellas <strong>the</strong> culture which is <strong>the</strong> product <strong>of</strong> a thorough education, aided by persistent <strong>and</strong> intelligent study. His management <strong>of</strong> a case, from <strong>the</strong> momen<strong>the</strong> assumes charge <strong>of</strong> it until <strong>the</strong> close <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> final hearing before <strong>the</strong> lastcourt <strong>of</strong> review, is planned with careful thought, a fact to which in no smalldegree may be attributed a large part <strong>of</strong> his success. A quick, alert <strong>and</strong> veryActive man, he is possessed <strong>of</strong> force <strong>and</strong> vitality, <strong>and</strong> devotes his energies to<strong>the</strong> main issues involved. During four years he served as county attorney <strong>of</strong>Floyd County. He has always been an ardent supporter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> democraticparty, while his fraternal connections are with <strong>the</strong> Benevolent <strong>and</strong> ProtectiveOrder <strong>of</strong> Elks, <strong>of</strong> which he is past exalted ruler <strong>of</strong> Rome Lodge, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>Masons, in which he has attained <strong>the</strong> Royal Arch degree. He <strong>and</strong> his familyare members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Methodist Episcopal Church, in which he is serving assteward.Mr. Shaw was married in June, 1914, to Miss Aileen Paul, who was bornat Chattanooga, Tennessee, daughter <strong>of</strong> George A. <strong>and</strong> Nancy (Hall) Paul.Mrs. Shaw is a member <strong>of</strong> Cumberl<strong>and</strong> Presbyterian Church.HARVEY C. BUNN, a widely known <strong>and</strong> popular citizen <strong>of</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>rn <strong>Georgia</strong><strong>and</strong> now postmaster <strong>of</strong> WaycrosS, was born at Elsie, <strong>Georgia</strong>, October 16,1888, a son <strong>of</strong> Taylor <strong>and</strong> Bettie (Whitley) Bunn. His fa<strong>the</strong>r was a native<strong>of</strong> North Carolina <strong>and</strong> his mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> South Carolina. In 1886 Taylor Bunn,moved to Umatilla, Florida, but after two years located at Elsie, <strong>Georgia</strong>, in1888. He is still living at <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> sixty-two at Fairfax, <strong>Georgia</strong>, <strong>and</strong>engaged in <strong>the</strong> lumber business, having also at various times been identifiedwith <strong>the</strong> naval store industry. He was married in South Carolina where hiswife was reared <strong>and</strong> educated, <strong>and</strong> she is still living at <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> fifty-seven.There were five children: Marvin L. Bunn <strong>of</strong> Wayeross; J. Dudley <strong>of</strong> Fairfax ; Harvey C.; Mrs. B. S. Gibson <strong>of</strong> Wayeross; Miss Lila Pearl <strong>of</strong> Fairfax.Harvey C. Bunn finished his literary education at Emory College, wherehe graduated Ph. B. in 1909, afterwards took a course in Eastman's BusinessCollege at Poughkeepsie, New York. From 1911 to 1914 he was assistantcashier <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Citizens Bank at Wayeross. He resigned that position to accept<strong>the</strong> responsibilities <strong>of</strong> his present <strong>of</strong>fice. When President Wilson appointedhim postmaster <strong>of</strong> Wayeross in January, 1914, Mr. Bunn had <strong>the</strong> distinction<strong>of</strong> being <strong>the</strong> youngest postmaster in <strong>Georgia</strong> in a second class <strong>of</strong>fice, <strong>and</strong> one<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> youngest in <strong>the</strong> entire country. He has made many changes for betterment in <strong>the</strong> postal service during <strong>the</strong> last two years, <strong>and</strong> in this positionas elsewhere has shown great ability <strong>and</strong> fidelity to every duty <strong>and</strong> obligation.He is an active democrat, a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Baptist Church, is a Mason <strong>and</strong>
