TM 9-<strong>2815</strong>-<strong>226</strong>-<strong>34</strong>-13-18. REPAIR C<strong>ON</strong>NECTING RODSa. Restore fillets.(1) Mill rod pads to restore fillet radius of 0.045 0.055 in. (1.143 1.397 mm). Maximum of 1/16 in. (1.59 mm)depth of metal may be milled off pad to restore radius.(2) Break sharp edges around pad.(3) Polish fillet to 16 microfinish.b. Resize crankpin bore.NOTEIf crankpin bore specifications wereexceeded as determined in para 3-17,rod-to-cap mating surface and capmust be reground and crankpin boreresized.(1) Remove old piston pin bushing.NOTEST-1242 connecting rod bushingdriver is used to remove and installpiston pin bushing.(a)(b)(c)Lay rod horizontally on press withpin bushing with hole in tool alinedblock.Place knockout ring on mandrel andinsert mandrel through pin bushing.Press piston pin bushing out of rod.3-1<strong>34</strong>
