TM 9-2815-226-34-1d. Cylinder liner upper counterbore replacement sleeve installation.WARNINGP-D-680 SOLVENT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. AVOID PROLONGED ORREPEATED CONTACT WITH SKIN. KEEP AWAY FROM FLAME OR EXCESSIVEHEAT.(1) Clean bore thoroughly with solvent.(2) Coat outside of replacement sleeve with high temperature retaining compound.(3) With ST-1168-36 driver, drive replacement sleeve into bore until it bottoms. Remove driver.NOTESleeve will protrude 0.004 in. (0.101 mm) above top of block.(4) Carefully file protruding sleeve until sleeve is even with top of block.(5) Remove all burrs with emery cloth.(6) Clean away all filings.3-83
TM 9-2815-226-34-1NOTEReplacement sleeve is designed to be 0.005 to 0.010 in. (0.127 to 0.254 mm) aboverequired counterbore depth.(7) Check depth of counterbore ledge and cut to specifications.e. Cylinder liner lower counterbore enlarging.NOTEEnlarging of lower counterbore is required to repair a cylinder block whencounterbore has been damaged, misalined, or its diameter has exceededspecifications. Counterbore is enlarged to accept a replacement sleeve which willprovide liner seals with tight sealing surface.(1) Assemble ST-1287 lower cylinder liner counterbore salvage boring tool:(a)(b)(c)Remove thick 0-ring from bottom of boring tool.Slide 5-1/2 in. (768.35 mm) centering ring onto boring tool with taper on ring toward cutter.Reinstall 0-ring to retain centering ring.3-84
