Table 14.3 shows that there were no differences in coverage for HIV testing between urban(80 percent) and rural women (79 percent). However, rural men were more likely to have been tested thanurban men (77 percent and 67 percent, respectively). Provincial differentials (Table 14.4) indicate thatLuapula province had the highest coverage rate (88 percent), while Eastern province had the lowest (61percent). As in the case of syphilis coverage, the highly urbanised provinces (Copperbelt and Lusaka) hadgenerally lower coverage rates than the rest of the provinces, except for Eastern and Western. Similarproportions of women and men in different provinces were tested for HIV. 14.1.3 Approach to Weighting Syphilis and HIV Data for Non-ResponseIn the 2001-2002 ZDHS, special weights were calculated for use in the analysis of the HIV andsyphilis test results. These sampling weights take into account differences in the coverage of the testingby province and sex. The fact that only sex, age, and residence information is available for the HIV datapreclude other adjustments.
