Those who were tested for HIV in the past were further asked about the source of theirtesting.Table 13.9.1 shows that only 9 percent of women have been tested for the AIDS virus. Womenin urban areas are more likely to have been tested (14 percent) than rural women (6 percent). Womenwho have never been married <strong>and</strong> those who have never had sex are less likely to have been tested thanthose who have ever been married <strong>and</strong> those who have never married but have had sex, respectively.Nevertheless, it is surprising that 5 percent of women who have never had sex report that they have hadan HIV test. Furthermore, the percentage of women who have been tested increases with increasing levelof education.AIDS/HIV/STI-Related Knowledge <strong>and</strong> Behaviour | 205
