<strong>MSC</strong> <strong>85</strong>/<strong>26</strong>/<strong>Add.2</strong><strong>ANNEX</strong> 3Page 81.5.2 Competent authority or competent authorities which have taken the initiative with respectto the exemption:.1 shall send a copy of such exemption to the Organization, which shall bring it tothe attention of the Contracting Parties to SOLAS; and.2 shall take action to amend this Code to include the provisions covered by theexemption, as appropriate.1.5.3 The period of validity of the exemption shall be not more than five years from the date ofauthorization. An exemption that is not covered under 1.5.2.2 may be renewed in accordancewith the provisions of this section.1.5.4 A copy of the exemption or an electronic copy thereof shall be maintained on board eachship transporting solid bulk cargoes in accordance with the exemption, as appropriate.1.5.5 Contact information for the main designated national competent authorities concerned isgiven in the separate document issued by the Organization.1.6 ConventionsParts A and B of chapter VI and part A-1 of chapter VII of the SOLAS Convention, as amended,deal with the carriage of solid bulk cargoes and the carriage of dangerous goods in solid form inbulk, respectively, and are reproduced in full:CHAPTER VIRegulation 1ApplicationCARRIAGE OF CARGOESPart AGeneral provisions1 This chapter applies to the carriage of cargoes (except liquids in bulk, gases inbulk and those aspects of carriage covered by other chapters) which, owing to theirparticular hazards to ships or persons on board, may require special precautions in allships to which the present regulations apply and in cargo ships of less than 500 grosstonnage.
