<strong>MSC</strong> <strong>85</strong>/<strong>26</strong>/<strong>Add.2</strong><strong>ANNEX</strong> 3Page 4710.5 DocumentationIn addition to the required documentation for the transport of solid bulk cargoes alltransboundary movements of wastes shall be accompanied by a waste movement document fromthe point at which a transboundary movement commences to the point of disposal.This document shall be available at all times to the competent authorities and to all personsinvolved in the management of waste transport operations.10.6 Classification of wastes10.6.1 A waste containing only one constituent which is a cargo subject to the provisions of thisCode applicable to cargoes of classes 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 6.1, 8 or 9 shall be regarded as being thatparticular cargo. If the concentration of the constituent is such that the waste continues to presenta hazard inherent in the constituent itself, it shall be classified as the class applicable tothat constituent.10.6.2 A waste containing two or more constituents which are cargoes subject to the provisionsof this Code applicable to cargoes of classes 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 6.1, 8 or 9 shall be classified underthe applicable class in accordance with their dangerous characteristics and properties as describedin 10.6.3 and 10.6.4.10.6.3 The classification according to dangerous characteristics and properties shall be carriedout as follows:.1 determination of the physical and chemical characteristics and physiologicalproperties by measurement or calculation followed by classification according tothe criteria applicable to the constituents; or.2 if the determination is not practicable, the waste shall be classified according tothe constituent presenting the predominant hazard.10.6.4 In determining the predominant hazard, the following criteria shall be taken into account:.1 if one or more constituents fall within a certain class and the waste presentsa hazard inherent in these constituents, the waste shall be included in that class; or.2 if there are constituents falling under two or more classes, the classification of thewaste shall take into account the order of precedence applicable to cargoes withmultiple hazards set out in the IMDG Code.10.7 Stowage and handling of wastesWastes shall be stowed and handled in accordance with the provisions of sections 1 to 9 of thisCode and with any additional provisions included in the individual schedules for cargoes inGroup B applicable to the constituents presenting the hazards.I:\<strong>MSC</strong>\<strong>85</strong>\<strong>26</strong>-Add-2.doc
