<strong>MSC</strong> <strong>85</strong>/<strong>26</strong>/<strong>Add.2</strong><strong>ANNEX</strong> 3Page 284permitted until tests have been carried out and it has been established that the oxygen content hasbeen restored to a normal level. When the planned interval between the commencement ofloading and the completion of discharge of this cargo exceeds 5 days, the cargo shall not beaccepted for loading unless the cargo is to be carried in a cargo space equipped with facilities forintroducing carbon dioxide or inert gas into the space. Smoking and the use of naked lights shallbe prohibited in the vicinity of the cargo space during loading and unloading and on entry intothe cargo spaces at any other time. Electrical circuits for equipment in cargo spaces which isunsuitable for use in an explosive atmosphere shall be isolated by removal of links in the systemother than fuses. Spark-arresting screens shall be fitted to ventilators to the cargo spacescontaining of this cargo.VENTILATIONSurface ventilation either natural or mechanical should be conducted, as necessary, for removingany residual solvent vapour. To prevent self-heating of the cargo, caution is required when usingmechanical ventilation.CARRIAGEHatches of the cargo spaces carrying this cargo shall be weathertight to prevent the ingress ofwater.DISCHARGENo special requirements.CLEAN-UPNo special requirements.EMERGENCY PROCEDURESSPECIAL EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT TO BE CARRIEDSelf-contained breathing apparatus.EMERGENCY PROCEDURESWear self-contained breathing apparatus.EMERGENCY ACTION IN THE EVENT OF FIREBatten down.
