<strong>MSC</strong> <strong>85</strong>/<strong>26</strong>/<strong>Add.2</strong><strong>ANNEX</strong> 3Page 12Regulation 6Acceptability for shipmentPart BSpecial provisions for solid bulk cargoes1 Prior to loading a solid bulk cargo, the master shall be in possession ofcomprehensive information on the ship’s stability and on the distribution of cargo for thestandard loading conditions. The method of providing such information shall be to thesatisfaction of the Administration. *Regulation 7Loading, unloading and stowage of solid bulk cargoes **1 For the purpose of this regulation, terminal representative means a personappointed by the terminal or other facility, where the ship is loading or unloading, whohas responsibility for operations conducted by that terminal or facility with regard to theparticular ship.2 To enable the master to prevent excessive stresses in the ship’s structure, the shipshall be provided with a booklet, which shall be written in a language with which theship’s officers responsible for cargo operations are familiar. If this language is notEnglish, the ship shall be provided with a booklet written also in the English language.The booklet shall, as a minimum, include:.1 stability data, as required by regulation II-1/22;.2 ballasting and deballasting rates and capacities;.3 maximum allowable load per unit surface area of the tanktop plating;.4 maximum allowable load per hold;.5 general loading and unloading instructions with regard to the strength ofthe ship’s structure including any limitations on the most adverse operatingconditions during loading, unloading, ballasting operations and thevoyage;***Refer to:.1 SOLAS regulation II-1/5-1 on Stability information to be supplied to the master; and.2 the Recommendation on a severe wind and rolling criterion (weather criterion) for the intact stabilityof passenger and cargo ships of 24 metres in length and over adopted by the Organization byresolution A.562(14).Refer to the Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code) adopted by theOrganization by resolution A.862(20).I:\<strong>MSC</strong>\<strong>85</strong>\<strong>26</strong>-Add-2.doc
