UCI International CenterSocial Security Number [SSN] InformationA Social Security Number is assigned to people who are authorized to work in the United States. All employees of the University,whether the appointment is with salary or without salary, must have a Social Security Number to be employed.A Social Security card will not be given to you at the time of your application. Processing time is a minimum of 30‐45 days. You willreceive your Social Security card in the mail. It is important to show your card to your hiring department in order for youremployment record to be updated.If the Social Security Administration cannot assign a Social Security Number for you, they will send you a denial letter.
