UNDER 19What better week to celebrate U19 footy thanthe week of a representative game. The squadhas been training together this week to preparefor the match against the Victorian CountryFootball League (VCFL). From the originalsquad of 40 players the team for Sunday’sgame has been selected and here’s hoping wecan knock off the country boys at SportscoverArena on Sunday. For those of you playing onSaturday and lucky enough to have a teammate selected, come on down to SportscoverArena on Sunday. The game starts at 1pm andentry is free.U19 PremierAndrew LeonardGET AROUND YOUR REP MATESSt Bedes / Mentone Tigers kicked of the roundin style with a 43 point win against Beaumarisand in doing so increased their percentagefurther to be well an truly ahead of the chasingUni Blues. Both sides have the same number ofpoints but with Blues a whopping 82% behindthey will require the Tigers to drop games inthe run home. Thefinal two matches were both drubbings. OldScotch had 13 different goal kickers and ranrings around Uni Blacks, winning by 145 points.De La Salle took over proceedings on top of theladder in style, defeating Old Melburnians by126 points. Charlie Haley slotted nine goals tostorm to equal top of the sharpshooter ladderfor the section.U19 Section 2St Kevins continued on their merry way witha great win at home to Werribee Districts. Sixgoals to Lachie Nankervis had the SKOBs crownup and about to cheer on an 83 point win tosend them top. Old Brighton hosted Old Trinitywith both managing nine goals each. Howeverit was the extra four scoring shots for thevisitors that gave them a four point win andthe four points to stay in the hunt for a finalsbirth. Old Haileybury handed out a hiding toMarcellin. Matthew Mitchell extended his leadin the Sharpshooters tables with a haul of eightgoals. For Marcellin Jo De Neefe kept the bloodshonest. With the result at Old Haileybury,Caulfield Grammarians need a big win aswell to keep close in percentage terms to theBloods. They were able to do that visiting OldCarey, with a final margin of 76 points leavingthem just 5% of a top four spot.U19 Section 3Northern Blues are still the pacesetters and twogames clear on top of this section. So the factthey lost to Collegians should be too much of aconcern. Sam Hibbins kicked six for the Lions tokeep the pressure on Mazenod in second. OldCamberwell enjoyed their day at Old Xaverianswith 72 point win. The win now separates thefour from the pack with a two game buffer.More importantly Nicolas Adamson had aday-out, he kicked 11 goals in a memorableperformance. Saunders was best for the winners whilst JackWilliams kicked a goal and was great in a losingcause. Mazenod did what it had to do hold onto second spot and defeat St Bernards. Twentysixscoring shots to 14 told a story, but the finalmargin was only 37 points.U19 SouthThere is no reason for having North beforeSouth in the review other than we are taughtto read from top to bottom. North being higheron the compass dictates they normally appearfirst. Not today. De La Salle are a great footballclub and their U19’s team in this section areproving to be brilliant this season. Apair of fives for Chris Welch and Jackson Bolandwere the best hauls for the Vultures.U19 NorthTherry Penola had a win at MHSOBs by 57points with Ethan Daley kicking five goals forthe victors. Old Geelong bounced back with awin out at La Trobe Uni. Karey Taylor grabbedseven goals for himself and Hamish Macmillanfive in the 95 point win. After a by last weekWilliamstown CYMS came refreshed to EmmausSt Leo’s and stole the four points.
