2012 -13programmeSouth East of Scotland Branch

Chair’s message 2012-13Welcome to the CIPD South East of Scotland branch programme for2012-13. I am delighted to present this year’s programme of activities for HR, andHR-minded, professionals from across all sectors. The Branch Events Team, ledby Kate Graham, have done wonderful work in creating an exciting and variednumber of Branch events. These events are aligned to our HR Profession Map andinclude topical issues as well as our on-going annual events: such as our ToniMcAlindin Employment Law Update, Mock Tribunal and Christmas Party!Complementing the Events Team are the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and ourGeographical Groups (West Lothian and Borders). The People and OrganisationalDevelopment SIG, led by Anne Arnot, has themed their POD group events around‘Fit for the Future’. Also, to clarify the focus of each event, they have splittheir events into 2 groupings: People Development (PD) and OrganisationalDevelopment (OD).The Committee are dedicated to supporting fellow HR Professionals in theirprofessional development and for those thinking of upgrading we have two datesfor Membership Advice Clinics. The programme also provides dates for the CIPDAnnual Conference and Exhibition, the CIPD Scottish Conference and the CIPDScottish Students Conference. As with all good programmes, events evolve and where we identify a valuableevent, this will be added. Therefore please keep an eye on the Branch Home Pageor our (online) Branch Newsletter ‘Inform’. See links on next page. Don’t forget toensure you have given your permission for the branch to email you withinformation/updates. Events prove to be continually popular so please aim to bookin advance where you can.Our events aim to provide a relaxed forum to network withfellow HR professionals and consider topical HR issues. They are brought by a number of HR practitionerswho work together to create the programme - weall look forward to meeting you in the forthcomingyear, to learn more about your ideas and tosupport the HR profession. With best wishes,Lorna Prince, Chair
