A return to clay andplaster followed, and ghostly casts of her acquaintanceshaunted corners of the house, or tumbled off closet shelvesonto people’s heads. Children were enticed in as models,till their incoherent accounts of her mysterious doingscaused Miss Amy to be regarded in the light of a youngogress. Her efforts in this line, however, were brought toan abrupt close by an untoward accident, which quenchedher ardor. Other models failing her for a time, sheundertook to cast her own pretty foot, and the familywere one day alarmed by an unearthly bumping andscreaming and running to the rescue, found the youngenthusiast hopping wildly about the shed with her footheld fast in a pan full of plaster, which had hardened withunexpected rapidity.
