Everything was in itsplace, however, and after a hasty glance into her variousclosets, bags, and boxes, Jo decided that Amy had forgivenand forgotten her wrongs.There Jo was mistaken, for next day she made adiscovery which produced a tempest. Meg, Beth, andAmy were sitting together, late in the afternoon, when Joburst into the room, looking excited and demandingbreathlessly, ‘Has anyone taken my book?’Meg and Beth said, ‘No.’ at once, and lookedsurprised. Amy poked the fire and said nothing.
