WELCOME Dear colleagues, In 2012 we welcome you again to the Frankfurter Meeting, which has been growing to one of the largest meetings on Surgery in Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. Therefore the meeting is one of the central congresses of the German Society for Obesity Therapy (CA-ADIP) and takes places under auspieces of the general German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) and the international Federation (IFSO). Once again we welcome you in a unique venue with a high-quality program and a hostile atmosphere. The Gesellschafthaus in the Frankfurt green oasis Palmengarten is one of the most convenient locations for such a big venue. This year we focus even more on live-surgeries, which will be transmitted directly from the hospital “Krankenhaus Sachsenhausen”, where international experts like Michel Gagner, Jacques Himpens, Jean-Marc Chevallier and others will perform different procedures and we will have a live-conference directly to the audience to facilitate a direct discussion. Additionally we offer again educating courses for surgeons starting in the field of bariatric surgery as well as colleagues from the Integrated Health and Bariatric Nurses. These courses are addressed to german colleagues and are organized in cooperation with the Berufsverband Deutscher Chirurgen (BDC). Moreover we offer again a bariatric suturing training course, were basic technical features can be trained on specimen under mentoring of experienced surgeons and instructions by Dr. Carus from Bremen. Due to the big demand we lately opened up a new session on curiosities and specialities showing rare cases and their solutions. The program will be displayed online and onsite. The scientific discussions can be continued in the evening with a dinner and a glass of wine or beer in one of the many high quality restaurants and facilities in Frankfurt City. Welcome to Frankfurt! Prof. Rudolf Weiner Dr. Sylvia Weiner 7
