3IBU EVENT AND COMPETITION RULES7.1.4 Passing <strong>and</strong> Giving WayA competitor who is in position to pass another competitor, <strong>and</strong> wishesto pass, must yell “Track.” A competitor who is about to be overtakenmust clear the course in front of the passing competitor at the firstyell of “Track” or other voice signal, even if the course is wide enough.However, this obligation does not apply to the last 50 m before the finishline <strong>and</strong> the last 50 m before the h<strong>and</strong>-over zone.7.1.5 Skiing Penalty LoopsIn all <strong>competition</strong>s in which the shot-penalty is the 150 m penalty loop,competitors must ski the loop once for every missed target immediatelyafter the shooting bout.7.1.5.1 ResponsibilityCompetitors themselves will be responsible for skiing the requirednumber of penalty loops immediately after the shooting bout. They arenot permitted to complete penalty loops at a later time.7.1.5.2 Penalty Loop ErrorIf, due to a mistake by the OC or a target malfunction, competitors skithe wrong number of penalty loops, the <strong>competition</strong> jury must decide onan appropriate time adjustment. In each <strong>competition</strong> where the penaltyloop is used, the OC must ensure that the average penalty loop ski timeis recorded, based on at least five competitors.7.1.6 Skating at Relay, Mass <strong>and</strong> Group StartsThe use of the skating technique in simultaneous or group starts (one orboth legs sideways) is prohibited in the tracked portion after the start line.7.2 OBSTRUCTIONIt is strictly forbidden to impede other competitors in any way at anytime during the <strong>competition</strong>. This ban also includes dropping objects onthe <strong>competition</strong> course or the shooting range in such a way that othercompetitors are impeded.7.3 EXCHANGING EQUIPMENT, REPAIRS, ASSISTANCE7.3.1 Exchanging Skis <strong>and</strong> PolesCompetitors may exchange one of their skis, but only if it is broken orthe binding is damaged.
