3IBU EVENT AND COMPETITION RULESfor a period of 45 minutes, which must begin one hour before <strong>and</strong> endno later than 5 minutes before the first start. At IBU <strong>event</strong>s, the zeroingtime may be shorter for the Pursuit, Mass Start <strong>and</strong> Relay <strong>competition</strong>s,but it must be at least 30 minutes long <strong>and</strong> end 15 minutes before thestart, <strong>and</strong> without any paper target change. If necessary, men <strong>and</strong>women may both zero prior to the first <strong>competition</strong>, but this must bedone separately.5.3.2 Only paper targets may be used for zeroing. Paper targets usedfor zeroing must be placed at the same level <strong>and</strong> the same distancefrom the shooting lane as the <strong>competition</strong> targets. When two rows ofpaper targets are placed, the second row must be below the level ofthe <strong>competition</strong> targets. If the paper targets have to be changed duringzeroing, they will be changed after 20 minutes <strong>and</strong> only the top row ofpaper targets will be changed. The time required for the change will notbe deducted from the time allocated for zeroing.5.3.3 Allocation of Zeroing LanesAt Individual <strong>and</strong> Sprint <strong>competition</strong>s, each team should be allocatedone zeroing lane on the range. Lanes will be allocated by r<strong>and</strong>om drawconducted under supervision of the RD/ /TD. At Relay <strong>competition</strong>s, theteam zeroing lane is to be the same as the start number. At Mass Start<strong>competition</strong>s, the zeroing lane will be allocated according to the startlist, but the competitors will be free to zero from any lane allocatedto a member of their NF. At Pursuit <strong>competition</strong>s, the shooting lanenumbers will be allocated according to the placement of the best rankedcompetitor in each team, but if a NF has more than four competitorsstarting, it will be allocated two adjoining zeroing lanes. One reservemember of each team will be permitted to zero before each <strong>competition</strong>,including the reserve Relay team member, except for at Pursuit <strong>and</strong>Mass Start <strong>competition</strong>s. Prior to the start of the Super Sprint final<strong>competition</strong>, competitors must be given the opportunity to zero theirrifles on the range for a period of 15 minutes; zeroing must begin atleast 25 minutes before <strong>and</strong> end no later than 10 minutes before the firststart. If necessary, men <strong>and</strong> women may both be zeroed prior to the firstSuper Sprint final <strong>competition</strong> but this must be done separately.5.3.3.1 At the OWG, WCH, WC, <strong>and</strong> Y/JWCH <strong>event</strong>s, shooting lanes 1-5 willbe allocated by r<strong>and</strong>om draw among the top 5 participating NFs, <strong>and</strong>3-48 IBU RULES
