Men or women may not participate in officialtraining <strong>and</strong> zeroing of the respective other gender; however, the RD/TD is authorized to permit mixed training on <strong>competition</strong> days when thisis in the best interest of the competitors <strong>and</strong> the OCs. The training bibsassigned by the IBU, if in use at the <strong>event</strong>, must be worn only by theassigned competitors during all training, <strong>and</strong> by the assigned team staff<strong>and</strong> service firm personnel skiing on the course at any time during the<strong>event</strong>. At IBU <strong>event</strong>s bibs may not be transferred to other persons.5.1.3 Types of Training“Official training” is the period of time that the OC must provide fortraining on the facility. The facility must be prepared the same as forthe <strong>competition</strong>. “Unofficial training” is the time that the OC allows fortraining on the facility in addition to official training, when the facilitydoes not have to be prepared as for the <strong>competition</strong>. OCs should allowas much time as is possible in the <strong>event</strong> program for unofficial training– if necessary, shooting lanes will be allocated for teams as for officialtraining, as directed by the TD.5.2 OFFICIAL TRAININGAt all IBU <strong>event</strong>s, the <strong>competition</strong> facility <strong>and</strong> courses must be open forinspection <strong>and</strong> official training at least once before the first <strong>competition</strong>.The facilities <strong>and</strong> courses must be prepared as for the <strong>competition</strong> <strong>and</strong>the training must be held at the same time of day as the <strong>competition</strong>itself. Each subsequent <strong>competition</strong> should also be preceded by officialtraining unless it is not possible in the <strong>event</strong> program or due to othercircumstances.After 20 minutes, metal <strong>and</strong> paper targets will be used <strong>and</strong> the choice ofshooting lanes will be free, until the end of the training period; however,the paper targets will be reserved for the assigned NF(s) for a further 25minutes. When the metal targets are opened for Mass Start, Relays <strong>and</strong>Pursuit official training, the odd-numbered shooting lanes will be set toprone <strong>and</strong> the even-numbered lanes will be set to st<strong>and</strong>ing.5.3 RIFLE ZEROING5.3.1 Zeroing TimePrior to the start of a <strong>competition</strong>, competitors must be given theopportunity to zero their rifles on paper targets at the shooting rangeIBU RULES 3-47
