IBU EVENT AND COMPETITION RULES 34.2.2.2 MarkingsEquipment will be marked to pr<strong>event</strong> unauthorized changes ofequipment during the <strong>competition</strong> by using another competitor’s startnumber. Both skis <strong>and</strong> rifles will be marked. In Individual, Sprint, Pursuit<strong>and</strong> Mass Start <strong>competition</strong>s, only one color will be used to mark theskis. The equipment will be marked with a colored marker pen or stamp,<strong>and</strong> will be unique for that <strong>competition</strong>. In Relay <strong>competition</strong>s, the skismust be marked according to the team start numbers <strong>and</strong> the colors ornumbers of the start sequence within the team. Rifle inspection stickersmust be placed on the top front end part of the stock.4.2.2.3 Delays Before StartCompetitors are themselves responsible if they are delayed in startingbecause they have reported late to the equipment inspection area,or because of corrections that have to be made to their clothing orequipment. The OC must provide sufficient staff to ensure promptequipment inspections <strong>and</strong> thus pr<strong>event</strong> competitors who have reportedin time from starting late.4.2.2.4 Final Check Before StartTwo minutes prior to the start, a check will be made of the competitor bythe starter’s assistant(s) in order to ensure the following:a. That the competitor is wearing a start number <strong>and</strong> thigh numbers;b. That the skis <strong>and</strong> rifle are properly marked;c. That advertising regulations are not being violated;d. That by opening <strong>and</strong> closing the action of the rifles, that there is noround in the chamber or the inserted magazine;e. That the competitor has transponders if they are in use;f. That the competitor is not in possession of any wirelesscommunication device.However, this check does not relieve competitors of their responsibilityto abide by Art. 1.4.2.4.2.3 Finish InspectionAfter arriving at the finish, <strong>and</strong> after the h<strong>and</strong>over zone in the Relay<strong>competition</strong>, a check will be made to confirm the following:a. That the rifles do not contain live ammunition in the chamber, stock,inserted magazine or any other magazine.b. That competitors have finished with at least one marked ski <strong>and</strong> theirIBU RULES 3-45
