SV-D700 / SV-D1000 Installation and ConfigurationElectrical InstallationUse this section in conjunction with the information contained in Appendix C: Wiring andElectrical Connections (notably Figure 107 on page 19-7). The wires and wire colors in thissection refer to the wires on the included SkyView Display Harness (SV-HARNESS-D37).Power InputSome wires that are used in SkyView harnesses are identified with secondary colorstripes. Exposing these striped wires to solvents or abrasives can cause the stripecolor to wear off. Handle these wires with care.SkyView displays have a primary power input that is compatible with 12 volt and 24 voltsystems (10 to 30 volts DC). There are two unterminated solid red primary power input wires(to reduce current loading in each wire—these are not for redundancy and both must beconnected to the same power source) and two unterminated solid black primary ground wires.GroundingEnsure that there is an appropriately rated circuit breaker or replaceable fuse onthe primary power input. For a SkyView system with one display, a 5 amp circuitbreaker or replaceable fuse is sufficient for the majority of installations. Referencethe Power Consumption Section of the System Planning Chapter for moreinformation.Ensure that all external devices that interface with SkyView have a common ground withSkyView. If a device does not share ground with SkyView, it may not communicate properly.Airplane Master Contactor / Relay ConsiderationsIf your aircraft is equipped with a master contactor or a relay that is operated by the masterswitch, it is imperative that the coil of the contactor or relay is protected by a diode to reducethe voltage spike seen when the contactor is turned off. Without this diode, the aircraft systemcan see spikes above 100V, which can damage Dynon equipment and other avionics. While some contactors have this diode internally, many do not. Please verify the existence ofthis diode before operating your Dynon equipment. Any diode that is rated for more than 1Aand more than 50V is suitable. Vans Aircraft part number ES DIODE MASTER is also a suitableoption.Backup Battery Connection and Operation RulesSkyView displays have the option of an external backup battery (SV-BAT-320). The displayharness has a connector that mates with the connector on the backup battery. Simplyconnecting the display to the battery using this connector enables backup battery functionality.SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision O 4-7
