System PlanningThe Ethernet connection between SkyView displays is made in addition to the 9 pin SkyViewNetwork connections, and should be connected on a permanent basis like other SkyViewwiring. Dynon Avionics strongly recommends “Low Smoke Zero Halogen” Ethernet cables foruse in aircraft, but any Ethernet cable – whether it is a “crossover” or normal “straight” typeEthernet cable - will technically work. Low Smoke Zero Halogen Ethernet cables are availablefrom Dynon Avionics (SV-ETHERNET-3CC). Aircraft containing more than two SkyView displayswill need an Ethernet switch with enough ports to connect all SkyView displays together.Contact Dynon Avionics for Ethernet switch recommendations if your aircraft has more thantwo displays. There are indicator lights on the Ethernet port that are usually indicative of datatransfer on traditional Ethernet devices. In SkyView, they are used instead fordisplay troubleshooting purposes. See the Maintenance and Troubleshootingchapter for more information about what these lights indicate.Available Cables and HarnessesThe following table contains Dynon part numbers and descriptions for the components that willtypically be used to test and build a SkyView system. Note: network cables with the “CP” suffixinclude the second connector—it just is not installed on the cable to facilitate easy routingthrough tight areas of an aircraft.Dynon Part NumberSV-HARNESS-D37SV-ETHERNET-3CCSV-NET-3CCSV-NET-6CCSV-NET-10CPSV-NET-15CPSV-NET-20CPSV-NET-25CPSV-NET-30CPSV-NET-SPLDescriptionSkyView Display Harness with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® WiringSkyView Ethernet Cable - Low Smoke Zero Halogen (3 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® WiringBoth Ends with Connectors (3 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® WiringBoth Ends with Connectors (6 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring1 End with Connector, 1 End with Pins Only (10 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring1 End with Connector, 1 End with Pins Only (15 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring1 End with Connector, 1 End with Pins Only (20 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring1 End with Connector, 1 End with Pins Only (25 foot)SkyView Network Cable with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring1 End with Connector, 1 End with Pins Only (30 foot)SkyView Network Splitter with Aircraft-Grade Tefzel ® Wiring(1 foot)2-14 SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision O
